3 things to consider when choosing the colour of your concrete worktops
When most people think about
concrete countertops, they think about a dull grey colour that will make their kitchen look dark and uninviting. The thing is, what most don’t know is that concrete countertops come in many different colours and designs.Yes, grey is still an option - but there’s a multitude of shades available to stop your home from looking too dark. It is also possible to dye concrete, so you can choose from a whole range of colours and even have materials embedded to create a different design such as glass fragments, seashells, and even fibre-optic lights.
The problem is, it can be hard to figure out what design would look best in your kitchen and bathroom, especially if you’re in the middle of decorating. We’ve come up with a few things you should consider to make sure you get the very best out of your new worktops.
Are you thinking of selling?
If you are renovating your home in preparation to put it on the market, then a safe option is to not go for anything too crazy. In the same way that house buyers look for plain walls and carpets, they’ll also look for plain worktops that they can put their own personality into. Picking a colour that is too bold is likely to put people off, as they will be looking for a house that they can make into their own.
Be wary of colour graphs
We strongly recommend that you take colour graphs and charts with a pinch of salt when choosing your perfect colour. Finished colours often come out two shades lighter or darker than the colour you originally picked, so it’s important to consult with an expert before ordering.
Using a topical sealant is likely to bring out the best results as it will enhance the colour of your worktops.
Personal preference
Out of everything we could possibly tell you, the colour of your worktops is mostly down to your own personal preference. Ultimately, you should pick the colour that you have a gut feeling about, and know will look good.
If you’ve already decorated, we suggest picking an accent colour in the room. For example, if your kitchen is mostly black with hints of silver, we’d suggest going for a light grey worktop to highlight the room.
If you haven’t already decorated, you may feel a little worried about committing to a colour just yet. Either play it safe with a mid-ground grey that will suit any room, or hold off on ordering until you’re absolutely sure on a colour.
After all, you want your worktops to look great and last a lifetime!
